The December concerts include an eclectic assortment of pieces with a seasonal theme, spanning the 16th century to the present day.
The glories of the Renaissance are represented by works by Palestrina, Lassus (the Divine Orlando) and Clemens non Papa, also Viadana, Mikolaj Zielinski and Jean Mouton (b 1459). On the way to the 21st century, we stop off to include works by Gustav Holst and Herbert Howells.
Arriving at present day, some of the contemporary artists included are very well-known. We take particular pleasure in introducing composers who may not yet be known to some of our audiences. At this concert we present pieces by Joanna Marsh and Will Todd, Bob Chilcott and Rebecca Dale.The December concerts would not be complete without a selection of Christmas carols, and of course we oblige!
