We are friendly and passionate about singing to a high standard. We work hard to improve our skills whilst having fun and we enjoy singing wide-ranging repertoire. If you are an experienced singer, we would love to hear from you.
Rehearsals and Concerts
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in term time in Endmoor Village Hall LA8 0ET, which is close to J36 of the M6 (see below.) Our singers come from a wide area, mostly in the South Lakes and north Lancashire and we car share to rehearsals and concerts, where possible. We generally perform concerts 3 times a year: in December, March/April and July.
We ask for a strong commitment to rehearsals and concerts, including putting in the time necessary at home to learn our parts so that in rehearsals we can focus on ensemble, dynamics and detail.
Cost
We are supported by subscriptions from choir members to cover the costs of rehearsals and music. Annual membership is currently £204 (or £102 for singers aged under 30) due in September each year, with options to pay termly or monthly. We don’t want anyone’s financial circumstances to be a barrier to singing with us and our Treasurer Sue Wright:
will discuss membership costs, in confidence, with any singer for whom this is an issue.
How do I apply?
If you are interested in singing with us, we encourage you to come and hear us sing. Although rehearsals are not generally open to the public, you are also welcome to join us for a trial rehearsal by prior arrangement. You would then be invited to a short, informal audition with our Musical Director, usually in July of each year (although mid-year auditions are sometimes possible). Please get in touch by emailing our Musical Director, Gawain Glenton, or apply now by using this form.
If you are aged 21 or under, you should be eligible to sing with us as a Choral Scholar, which includes a bursary and other benefits – click for more information.
